Thinking of adding the bottle

Just want some opinions, anything i should know, it will be going onto a 3.2 cts.
Not even sure where i should start, or if its a good idea. What extra mods would i need? I just want a small shot, nothing crazy.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Thinking of adding the bottle

crap talon i would have sold u my whole kit for 400 about 3 months ago

here is what you will need to know

wet is safer with this car because it cant be tuned for dry

you will need a dual nozzel because we have a dual throttle body

you should get a fpss and a microswitch for under your pedal

here are some pics and vids of my setup

Re: Thinking of adding the bottle

Well I do have some more on the topic actually

first of all I would make sure to get a remote bottle opener because it makes it way more fun. (you dont have to get out and turn on the bottle)

second make sure to buy all of your saftey devices (fuel pressure saftey switch, nitrous filter, wide open throttle switch, and if yours is a manual tranny a window switch)

Third do not go over a 75 shot. that means 75hp shot and is rated diffrent by companies but when the time comes to pick your jets you can go to a jet calculator (ny-trex has a good one...google it) and you can find out what jets do what. Anything over a 75 shot will require you to change timing. I did a 62 rwhp shot so basically around a 75.

Third if you do dry make sure to either tune the nozzel which has to do with placment and how it passes over the MAF sensor and use a wideband 02 sensor it and have a professional do it if you dont know what your doing. BTW if you do wet it will be pretty easy to tune through the jets. Not placment of the nozzel

Join ls1tech.com and go to the nitrous forums and read as much as you can and learn everything you can.

4th just show whoever installs the nitrous to look at my setup and i will save him some heartache

BTW does that volant Look familiar

Re: Thinking of adding the bottle

I've been running N2O on my T-birds and mustangs for years. I'll just shoot out a couple of thoughts on my experiences.

On my 1995 4.6L V8 T-bird, I ran a 100 shot for about a year before selling the car to a friend. He made it about two years, or around 30k miles, before the motor blew. The 4.6l was a non-forged set up, which would be similar to a 3.2l considering the costs. The guy who mentioned keeping it at or below the 75 shot would be correct (and wet is tupically a better set up). Still, is a Cadillac the right car for N2O? Probally not with it's stock motor combo. Just to give you some contrast, I spent around 6k for my 331 longblock in my Fox body. It's all forged internals, and I still would not consider going above a 150 shot. There is a realibility issue when it comes to daily drivers, yet even with a 'race' car, I keep the power low. The reason I bring that up, well... eventually people want more power, and to often they re-jet the bottle for more power. It's cheap and easy to do, but most people won't consider fuel and computer upgrades, and they eventually loose a motor like my Bird eventually did. Are you the type of guy that would only be happy with a 75 shot? Keep that in mind.

Another thing to consider is bottle refills. I was spending about $60 a pop until I took the stang off the road. You usually get only 7 or 8 good hits from the bottle unless you invest in a heater and pressure regulator. Even then, with a 10 lbs bottle, you might not get that many more hits. And that gets expensive pretty quick. And the power does not last, which tends to be a downer. Because of that, I've actually started down the S/C and turbo route in my stang. You always have the extra power from one of those set ups, though I would keep the juice for cooling the intercooler.

Im not going to talk anyone out of N2O ever. I've always enjoyed it. But think about it first. It might become nothing more then an expensive add on that sits there and looks good... or it might become a money pit as you replace the juice or worse, the motor.
