| | | Cts Mpg Bought 07, 3.6, CTS w/sport performance package, 18" wheels. Fuel mileage is not up to my expectations. Most of my driving is around town and I am averaging 13.4 to 14.9 mpg. The best I have gotten on the road is 25.9 and I never, almost never, exceed the speed limit. Is this normal or do I need to have it checked? Tnx. |

| | | Re: Cts Mpg I have an 04 3.6 and I get around 18-20 in the city and around 25 in city/highway. On trips I get around 28 or so. |

| | | Re: Cts Mpg isn't the est. mpg 19 city /26 highway? if i was getting 25% less mileage than the manufacturer's estimates, i'd be concerned too. |

| | | Re: Cts Mpg I have a 13 mile one-way commute. All surface streets. One Sunday I drive about a 30 mile round trip on the freeway (usually about 80 MPH). My read out says 23 MPG.
I have a 3.2 with an 5-Speed manual and I don't baby it. |

| | | Re: Cts Mpg geez, 13.4 to 14.9, is that all stop and go? I drive pretty much all city in my V and my average is at 14.7, and believe me, I don't baby it. You'd think the 3.6 would get better than my 5.7 in the city. Bu if you can stretch it to 25.9 it makes me think that you are doing a lot of stop and go when you're getting the 13-14. |

| | | Re: Cts Mpg Thanks for replies. I'm going to have it checked. I bought it used so it didn't cost me big bucks. When I get the 25.9 on the highway, I start off filled up and MPG zeroed out, so city and hwy aren't mixed. I live in a small town and I do lots of short errands. |

You must be really easily entertained... By the way, theres a major difference between bitching about 'milage' to "Is this normal or do I need to have it checked? Tnx." tarhe54 Yes, I would get it checked out. Even when I auto-x'ed I didnt get 14 mpg, it was closer to 16. I have the same spec'd car, mechanically, so all else being equal, we should get the same mileage.
Remember tho, its not 'breaking the speed limit" that hurts your mileage. Its how fast you accelerate to that given speed. When Im driving economically, I never see above 2000 rpm.

I get upwards of 32 mpg on the highway. |
