but obviously when you are in park you are getting 0 miles accomplished thus being 0mpg
when I reset mine it goes to 0. then if I switch to avg, then back to inst, it then says 99mpg until I start moving. weird.

Re: Cts Mpg

It's fairly easy to check the accuracy of the MPG indicator without going through the trouble of writing everything down. Based on my test, I think it is accurate. When I first got my car, I tested it by resetting the "Fuel Consumption" indicator to zero, the "AVG MPG" to zero, and a tripometer to zero.

At the end of the trip, I divided the fuel consumption by miles traveled and got the same number as the AVG MPG.

Obviously, if the fuel consumption meter is not accurate that throws everything off. Maybe another step would be to test that at some point.

Oh, and I get anywhere from 29-31 highway in my 3.2l, 26 mixed, and 22 city. But I have a manual and take full advantage of it to reduce fuel consumption (and get power when needed). If I'm real careful I can get 33 on some favorable roads around my way.

Re: Cts Mpg

Someday, Someway I hope we get an explanation as to WHY the 3.6L CTS gets crappy mileage. Some tech person at GM knows what the problem is but it is not coming out.

I have both 3.2l and 3.6l cars and the 3.2l was decent on mileage but something is wrong with the 3.6 cars. It is what it is, but I sure am curious why. I suspect inefficient engine tuning to make emissions or high losses in the drive train (diff) but those are only guesses.

It is SO SAD that our 380HP 5500LB 4WD Tundra gets only 2MPG less. WTF?

That is an awfully generalized statement. Maybe your CTS gets crappy mileage. I am quite happy with 26 on regular and 29 on premium. My 5-speed Maxima with 30 less hp and 300 less pounds was getting 25 on premium.

Re: Cts Mpg

I'm glad of the mpg that I get with my cts 3.6L. highway about 30 mpg (4 mpg more or less depending of weather and lots of factors) and about 22-23 mpg in city. I used to drive a buick regal 3.8L and grand prix that gets about 28 mpg highway drinving, less heavy, less power.

If I wanted to have an economic car, I would've got a honda civic, or toyota yaris or something like that but buying a sedan from an american company, I know it wont be economic on gas!

Maybe consider a toyota camry 4cyl. or honda accord 4 cyl. but you wont have the same confort, the same pleasance of driving that you have with the cts. Its a price to pay for confort, fun, headturns etc and you will be back on fwd (yack! not anymore with me).

Life, liberty, pursuit.. cadillac, a way of living, not just a single car!

Re: Cts Mpg

Jimmy, even in the motorcycle club that I am in, people complain a lot about the price of gas! My gsxr750 2004 takes about 7L per 100 km and I think its just fine! With that 250, it will be day and night versus the cadillac

by my calculations, that's about 33.7mpg. That sounds about right for a 750. You have an exhaust eh?

I was getting about 40-45 when I had my 600. But I was stock. I knew guys with an exhaust and +2/-1 that were getting less than 30 with their 600s.
