| | | So I'm trying to get a NAV unit for a 2006 CTS... ...and I just missed a nice woodgrain unit (10373846) for about $900 on E-bay by 3 days.
Hurray.
First time poster, recent joiner, long time reader.
I have a used Pioneer AVIC-N2 with all of the modules, kits, discs, brackets, etc. etc. to put into my CTS, but I decided not to because I wanted to keep the OEM look and features, so I'll be selling that off...
Anyway, I currently have the regular 6-disc CD player with woodgrain, and I've been researching for about 2 months, delegating if I wanted to really pay around $1000 to upgrade to the OEM nav. So I decided to call my local dealerships today to see how much they would charge me to get a navigation unit installed with the Tech II thingy (lingo savvy eh?) for my VIN... Every one I called was dumbfounded and had no idea it was possible, let alone how to do it. I told them the basics (what I learned from reading this board over the last few months), and one guy said he would be happy to try it if I could obtain the unit.
So here are my questions:
-What exactly do I need to obtain/purchase to make this successful? I know about the unit itself, the antenna, the disc/discs, and some sort of module... is there anything else?
-Is anyone going to be selling their nav unit soon (p/n 10373846)? I have been scouring the classified section on this site and found no woodgrain units, as well as E-bay and even Craigslist...
-Is there a vendor on this site that could assist with obtaining a unit? I'm sure buying from the dealer would be waaaaaaay more expensive than E-bay or from another individual, but if it comes down to it, I -might- be willing...
Thanks in advance.
Edit: (I'll be posting some pics soon!) |

All you need is unit itself, the antenna, the nav dvd, and some wire+wire taps to tap into the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) wire behind the guage cluster (hardest thing to pry out on the whole job.) Good luck finding a decent unit. This is one of my favorite mods.

Edit: (I'll be posting some pics soon!) | Hey, welcome to the boards!
I just did this install myself about 2 weeks ago. It isnt too difficult.
Do your self a favor and bookmark this page http://www.cadillacfaq.com/
There you will find a detailed walkthrough on how to install it and what parts you need. (Not to mention TONS of other info and documentation)
Best of luck and be patient! |

I'll probably get some pics up this weekend so folks can poke fun at my 20's, chrome post trim and chrome door handles. |
