| Re: Interest check on 3.6l owners that want performance parts In terms of pure acceleration type performance with the most "bang for the buck", I think you're missing the boat without getting the ECM or PCM reflashed to a more performance type spec. It was done on the '80's type cars by changing the "chip" in the ECM. Most of the current technology doesn't allow for a "chip" change, the program is an integral part of the on board computer...it has to be reflashed with new logic. NOT rocket science for the right guy, but we'd have to find him and have him develop the program. In the 3.6L CTS, probably should pick up 25-30hp with corresponding torque numbers for $4-500, all with the rest of the car at pure stock. 10% is VERY noticeable with the seat of the pants measuring system. Now to find the reputible guy to do it..... I just had my Viper done at West Coast Viper, cost $500, and the car really does explode when you bury the accelerator in 2nd thru 5th gears. Best $$$ I ever spent IMO. |
