replacement battery for '04

I still have an original battery with 42k miles. I can't find much info on non-oem replacements looking on line. Do I have to replace with an AC Delco from the dealer? What cost am I looking at for a replacement?

Thanks.

Re: replacement battery for '04

Batteries have gone up almost every month....A replacement should cost about $85...install it your self. I installed a Red Top optima for $150.00...looks purdy.

Make sure you get the side post style......go to any parts stores...

Re: replacement battery for '04

I just had to change my battery on my 04. Cadillac wanted $250 installed, $170 for just the battery (AC Delco). I got one for $150 from a Chevy dealer. I felt like I got rapped!!!

Re: replacement battery for '04

I just replaced mine on my 04' which was nice since they claim it's a 6 year battery.....anyway I spent $130 and got a NAPA 100 Series it is slightly taller but still fits perfectly fine and has the vents in the same location as the Series 101 with a higher CCA at 880....Hope this helps

Re: replacement battery for '04

For what the dealers charge for their replacement batteries you'd be a lot better off going to the auto parts store and getting an Optima red top. It's the last battery you'll buy. The last 3 batteries I've replaced have been Optima. I'm sorry I didn't take the last one out of my Escalade when I sold it.

Re: replacement battery for '04

It is designed for a 101 series battery, no one else is making 101 batteries as far as I have seen.

You can go with a Delco. I recommend staying away from the optimas unless you can get one without top posts.
People have been creative about installing them, but the fact of the matter is that it can hit the hood and be a real potential fire hazard. You can search for discussions on that.

I have seen some folks put a 78 series battery in with some degree of success, those are readily available from almost any battery manufacturer.
Not sure if you have to modify the tray and I think it will be pretty tight under the cowl.
