car is jerking when coming to stop

I have an 03 CTS with 65k miles....

I live in chicago and it is very cold right now...I notice this really only when the car isnt warmed up. when coming to a stop the car seems to jerk a bit like an engine break or downshifting. It cant be normal becasue It absolutely irratetes the crap out of me. does anyone know what this is so I can take it to a mechanic and make a suggestion to them?

Dont know what the problem is but i have an 03 with 39000 and mine does this every once in a while... not often to concern me right now though. Hopefully someone has an answer...i think it may be a transmission thing.

if you dont let the car warm up, you could get a sticky valve which then causes a jerking sensation. especially if it is around 30-40 degree temp. Had a tbird i had in Ny that had the same problem. Might be something else,but thats experince it sounds like to me .

I find my transmission downshifts a bit more harsh when its not warmed up. It doesn't seem to be a real problem in my case, just needs some heat to smooth it out.

It does it with or without sport mode... mainly when the car is cold but every once in a while I will notice it even after driving. I have trouble taking it to cadillac because I work so much during the week and they only do oil changes on saturday. I may just take it to a mechanic but I am afraid they wont be able to trouble shoot this. Only time will tell.... thanks for all posts..I appreciate all input and ideas.

The dealer might have a valet service that will pick the car up from you at work, and leave you a loaner...I know mine does

my 03 does the same thing... feels like a tranny issue since it's always during a downshift into first while coming to a stop. It's a terrible clunk, especially when it's cold... sometimes hard enough to jerk my whole body forward a bit. It gets better once it's warm, but it still happens from time to time once it is warm.
I may be over reacting... but this issue alone is making me seriously consider selling it... once it warms up of course, since no one in their right mind would buy it after feeling that nonsense.

It feels very expensive to fix.
