Looking to buy an 03/04 CTS

Remove this ad
Hello all,

I am currently in the market for an 03/04 CTS. I am looking for any advice you guys can give me as far as what to look for. Is there anything really different between the 03s and the 04s? What does the CTS sport have that the others don't? Is the 3.6L the sport version? lol. Sorry, I am a noob. Thanks,

Re: Looking to buy an 03/04 CTS

03 only had the 3.2, 04 had the 3.6 or 3.2 with the manual tranny. Not a lot of differences other than that between the 2 years. 03 guage cluster is different & all 03s had the grey rear bezel (the part around the license plate) & half of the 04s had it before they changed to body colored bezels. Most people had issues with the grey ones leaking & have had it replaced with a body colored one under warranty.

Sport gives you different suspension, brakes, wheels & tires. I know Stabilitrac is on the sport models, not sure about the others.

Luxury gives memory settings, wood grain accents, and dual power & heated seats. I can't remember if the Bose system is part of the lux pkg, or if it was just an additional option. Other options are the sunroof & folding rear seat.

If I could do it over I would have went for the 04 CTS luxury sport. The differences are slight but they do make a difference. Especially the 3.6L....

Re: Looking to buy an 03/04 CTS

I went with the 03, it really depends on the car and deal you find whether you grab an 03 or 04.

As far as 07's go, if you can find one on the car lots, dealers are dying to get rid of them so a good deal should be had. Not many buying the 07's that are hanging around when a mean 08 is staring right at them on the same lot.

That's the truth! The dealership that I go to had 2 left on the lot they basically gave away! They were both base models, otherwise I would have traded in my 04 for one of them.
