What's your average MPG?

Remove this ad
Hey everyone. I'm new to the forum.

I have 2 cars. 2001 Camaro SS and my 07 CTS which I baught for a daily driver about 6 months ago. I'm starting to get the mod bug for the CTS and will probably be doing 6000k HIDs and a Sport Grille soon.

When i first got my CTS i was getting about 15mpg which made me hate life for not getting a CTS-V. I figured it would be cheaper to have a 3.6 for gas... although it is cheaper on insurance and price obviously.

But I guess the pcm has leardned the fuel trims and my MPG have gone up to an average of 18 MPG. I still think that's pretty shitty.

What kind of MPG are you all getting?

I'm thinking I might tune the car with HPTuners for better gas milage later on if these numbers are a lot lower than others. Maybe even get a CAI (maybe it'll help).

Re: What's your average MPG?

I don't think you will find anyone who can successfully tune the 3.6.

20-24mpg is typical highway gas milelage for the 3.6. At 15mpg something is wrong...maybe your foot?

Re: What's your average MPG?

I have the 03 3.3 litre, and I'm getting 30MPG AVG. and thats mainly city driving. Not too bad actually.
When I first got the car I was a bit more heavy on the throttle, and was getting much worse millage. But I've calmed down now that I've experienced what the car can do.

Re: What's your average MPG?

Do a search and you will see many threads on this.

My take: 3.6L mileage is BAD relative to its performance. 3.2L is pretty good. I have owned both and was very disappointed when I get the 3.6 with its mileage.

Re: What's your average MPG?

in the middle of the summer I was averaging around 24 MPG, but since it's gotten colder that average has dropped to 22.6. That is an average over atleast 10 tanks of gas. My Aurora with a 3.5 liter V6 got 27 average. It was pretty disappointing to say the least considering that the CTS is a lighter car!

Assuming you have the 3.2L as there is no 3.3L, I find it impossible that you get 30mpg average....Maybe, on the instant MPG rolling with your foot off the gas...but unless you have some crazy awesome gas or cool mods nobody has heard of....I have to call BS or a wrong calculation on 30mpg

Re: What's your average MPG?

I get 18 back and forth to work and about 28 cruising on the interstate. Coasting downhill I get 70 mpg. When an engine is new it's not unusual to get bad gas mileage. You need to get 6-8000 miles on it 1st.
