Headlight daylight sensor

Remove this ad
I did a bit of searching and couldnt find the answer.

Where is the sensor that tells the headlamps to come on when they are in the "auto" position? My headlights seems to stay on all the time when its on auto.

thanks.

Re: Headlight daylight sensor

If you have the wiper switch in the first notch off the bottom the lights will come on also.

Re: Headlight daylight sensor

Can they break and trick the lights to come on all the time? My lights are on in the most sunniest of days!

Don't know about the CTS, it may well be different, but on the DTS it does not work that way.

With the rain sense wipers on... and the headlights on "AUTO", when it starts raining and the wipers actually start working, "THEN" it turns the lights "ON". WHen it quits raining, and the wipers stop, it turns the lights "OFF".

I leave both the lights and the wipers in "AUTO" all the time.

Re: Headlight daylight sensor

Jim's statement applies to the CTS on some levels. That being, when you turn on your wipers (no auto-wipers on the CTS) then the headlights automatically come on (if set in the auto position). Sigma is correct about that sensor, and koz is correct with the switch. I am just here to make this pointless recap post.

I didn't understand what you're trying to say. Please rephrase it.

Which switch and which first notch. (maybe some pictures could help)

My headlamps seems to be on all the time ass well.. even during the day, and they only turn off when I put the car in "P" (parking) during the day...
When I turn off my lights at night it says "Headlamps suggested" But when I turn it off during the day it doesn't say anything like that, but when I put it on "AUTO" mode they turn on...

Confused. Please help.

Re: Headlight daylight sensor

He meant that if your windshield wipers are set to on (first notch) or any other..it automatically turns on your headlights. It assumes it is raining and dark and turns on headlights for you.
