CTS and CTSV Design Flaws?

After having a discussion with a GM QC Engineer this weekend I would like to hear from some other CTS and CTSV owners on what you think is wrong, missing, misplaced or other wise should have been offered on the CTS/CTSV (where did Cadillac miss the boat?). Please do not list DEFECTS. I'm looking for more design issues...Please rate each of your items on a 1-5 scale (see below). Maybe we could get the engineers to read our feeback. I would really like to hear from EVERYONE who owns or has driven a CTS/CTSV. Your contribution to this thread is greatly appreacited by me, and may help to determine some future chages

1. Top Priority
2. High
3. Medium
4. Low
5. Minor, but still worth mentioning

So what bugs you??? - (examples below)

Not having a glove box light?
No underhood light?
Is your front cig lighter/12v power too close to your manual shifter for any real life use?
Telescoping steering wheel and pedals should have been offered?
Backup sensors would have been a nice option?
Lack of a handbrake? Current footbrake and hood release too close together?

Please make your own list AND RATE each item as above. I will state my own after I hear some of everyone elses. If your comments are V specific (or you think they MAYBE) - please inidcate as such.

Thanks in advance for your inputs.
-Ben

Re: CTS and CTSV Design Flaws?

I wish you could use one of the programable keys on the steering wheel to move thru the different readouts that appear on the top of your Navigation screen ie. mileage, outside temp, gallons used, tripmeter, ect.
Also a passenger grabhandle.

Re: CTS and CTSV Design Flaws?

You can't turn off Traction Control and Stabilitrak permanently. You need to do it each time you start the vehicle.

Also the stabilitrak (as opposed to TC) can ONLY be disabled by the button in the glove box (hold down for 5 secs) - you can't use the DIC or the programmable button. These are a 2 in my book.

Re: CTS and CTSV Design Flaws?

All the above + the fact that you cannot adjust the stereo from the wheel (per my wife, who has the most important opinion ).

Re: CTS and CTSV Design Flaws?

Here are my impressions: (1 important- 5 not important)
-CTS-V specific-

Interior:
-Passenger grab handle -1
-Configurable DIC colors -5 (would be nice)
-Better pedal configuration -2 (for heal/toe shifting)
-Better side bolster support -4
-easier opening of trunk storage -5 (On V model)
-Trunk close handle/ strap -2
-Trunk passthru lock -4

Mechanical/Suspension
-Hand e-brake -2
-relocate front cig lighter -3(can't use it an shift)
-Reduce wheel hop -1
-Correct Gauges -1
-No underhood light -3

Audio/video entertainment
-Video input -3
-Audio input -1 (10k cars have ‘em)
-Video output (rear seat monitor) -3
-REAL Cell phone integration (bluetooth!) -1 (Onstar is not a REAL cellphone)
-Nav screen DIC readout -5 (have multiple DIC entries on 1 screen)
-Voice control of NAV (v) -1 (removed on V version!)
-Navtraffic (Delphi/gm) -4
-MP3 cd capability -1
-Inability to change cd track in a different screen -2
-Remove Stupid onstar antenna -1

Engine/brake
-Less “rubbery” shifter -3

I do LOVE this car!! It is the best I have ever driven.

These are my suggestions (nice to have’s) and I do understand the cost benefit equation which is why most of this stuff has not made it on the V.

Re: CTS and CTSV Design Flaws?

Very nice! Keep this list going.

Most of these are pretty realistic requests (now that I've said that we'll get someone posting - gold trim kit-1 ).

Most of mine have already been mentioned, but I'll still come up with a few to add.

Keep them coming!

-Ben
