BTW, I might not have made it apparent in that post, this was directly copied from a dealer flyer direct from GM/Cadillac.

Acura has done the same thing in their line up replacing names like legend, vigor, integra with RL, TL, RSX etc... They did this because they to wanted to change their image somewhat. The marketing people at acura came to the conclusion that cunsumers asscociated luxury vehicles with short alpha-numeric sequences like that of mercedes, bmw, and audi. So to be considered as a contending luxury nameplate they switched to alphabet soup...

...now I guess they all do it...

cadillac, jaguar, mercedes, lexus, infiniti, acura, bmw, audi... and looking at this list maybee the marketing people are correct. Notice how lincoln ( was on to something with LS ), buick, chyrsler ( slight upturn with 300 series ), don't really fit into the list.
