I drive an 05 GMC sierra and my wife drives a 04 CTS 3.6l. I had the pickup in for warrenty work and they gave me a chevy impala (not the SS) and the first thing I said was this sucks. I love driving my wifes CTS and it is so hard to drive a regular car. The handling sucks, the response time stinks, and I feel like I am driving a boat. My pickup responds better than the impala. With all said I highly doubt we will ever own anything less. |

I almost bought an Impala SS when out car shopping. The CTS felt so much more refined. I have a Sierra Crew Cab which I love to drive as well but the Caddy is nice...after a week owning it, I said to my sales guy...I think I'll be buying Cadillacs from now on...aside from my still getting a truck though.
My parents will be trading in their 05 Envoy XL for a new Acadia and their 05 Grandprix for an 08 CTS...my dad likes mine that much. |

I will always drive a GM pickup because I need It, but my wife will have a Caddy from here on out. I guess that is why they say once you own one you buy anything else. My father in law has always owned cadillacs and my father (farmer) has always owned GM of some sort.
The wife wants a Denali or an Escalde next, what are the major differences beside engine? |

Main difference between the two...engines are that different...mostly esthetics. My dads neighbour is also a GM employee...Dealer Rep and he has a Tahoe LT as his company vehicle but had the Escalade home for a couple weeks. Said its really nice but the difference in $30,000 or so wasn't worth it. I think your wife would be happy with either the Denali or the Escalade. I'm trying to find a wife so I can pawn off my current CTS if the new V comes out while I still have it LOL...... |

before the CTS my wife drove a Chevy Tahoe 2-door Sport, that thing went anywhere. She likes the feeling of being up higher, makes here feel safer I guess. She was driving my Sierra when she ran errands until she dented the rear fender trying to park. She will never touch my baby again!!!!!!!!!!!
I told her she should look into getiing an STS or maybe even the DTS because we do alot of driving as a family (3 kids) and our main traveler is the pickup. It gets 16mpg (4:10 rear) and eats gas like nothing. But she is the one who drives 20 miles one way to work and if she wants something she feels comfotable in she will have it.
thanks for the reply |

They tell me the next day that it has been shipped. Every week i'd ask, when's it gonna be here, they'd say this friday, or maybe monday. I got irritated and said screw them, and called the car transportation company (Searail) and they tell me that the car was shipped on Feb. 3 (exactly 8 days from when they said it was shipped) and then I tell them I want a courtesy vehicle and i'm not gonna pay for it. So they give me a frickin GEEQUINOX! for a CADDY! The salesman I purchased the car from (my dad's friend) says "Well, it will make you appreciate the caddy more" im like whatever and walk out. It finally arrived at the Vancouver port, and now they have to send a truck out to pick it up, probably gonna take another week to get the damn truck out. So pissed off at this dealership (owner kicks ass tho)
And yes, I asked for several different vehicles but their response was "we have no demo plates left" or "thats the only vehicle available" |

I may be banned for saying this but my dads 07 Impala LTZ feels more solid than my 04 CTS 3.6L. I dont know how to define solid but I dont think the Impala is bad at all. Doors shut well, the seats are more supportive.I find that most rentals given out, CTS included, is always a base model that is cheap feeling regardless.
I like my CTS much better, dont get me wrong. Im just saying the new Impalas are nice (base models excluded). They have gotten very high ratings. And the SS is very quick.
Sorry just my opinion

Sorry just my opinion | The new Impalas are actually great cars vs. their direct competitors, but remember the market they're going after (Camry, Accord, etc.) is very different than the CTS. The CTS is designed for and targeted at a much different market (i.e. BMW 3-Series & 5-Series). |

Of course my dads 07 is pretty loaded. It even has led based interior lights. I test drove an impala SS before I bought my CTS and if the exterior stlye was a little more sporty I would have had to think longer about my choice. I think in the end what I really was wanting was a rear wheel drive sporty 4 door. Having a 300 HP impala is nice but it was front wheel drive. |
