I know I haven't been on for a while. I been real busy at work and I just finally got some time to log back on to the forum.
I've got a question and I need a solution that will allow me integrate the Nucleus or Alternative I-Pod adapter with my Navi I'm just geting installed.
My guy at Natural Sound is telling me that the nucleus unit will not work with the XM Direct Receiver. You see I'm upgrading from the single CD radio to the Navi unit. So I have the base amp and No XM currently in the veichle. I am following the method described to add XM Factory style written by Ody from Cadillacfaq.com But I'm trying to add the Nucleus I-Pod adapter to my installation with it.
Natural Sound is telling me, after talking to Nucleus, that if they hookup this I-Pod adapter the way that has been described in the Faq, that it will have errors or malfunctions due to the fact that the nucleus unit was intended to be used with the Factory Installed XM Receiver unit. There is some concern that the Aftermarket version will conflict the the A.I. I-Pod unit cause they use the same data path.
What I need to know is if anybody has done this same install I am attempting to have done, with the same components I'm using. I need to find out if there is a workaround or another I-Pod adapter, Like the one Tony Orlando is using that will work for my particluar application. Any suggestion or advise would be helpful here.
Thanking you in advance for assistance.

All I know about the iConnect is that it plugged right into my factory XM receiver and worked. That's why I like it: It's idiot proof.

I had same issue when tried to install factory Nav/XM by terk/and nucleus iPod kit into Yukon.I had error messages left and right.
then I start playing with T harnesses from Nucleus and XM, conecticting and disconnecting iPod with keys on and off, with terk piece connected and disconnected, tried to put those harnesses in diferent order, basicaly after f.....g around for about an hour, it suddenly start working.don't ask me in which order everything was when was working. at that time i did not even care to remember. all i remember I was very pissed, and nothing will make me do this again. anyway good luck. Hope your installer will be more lucky than I was |

Is there any other I-Pod adapters available that will work in my situation? I'm not too sure what else I should do here. I'll just have to e-bay my nucleus unit in that case.
GM Geek, was that install for somebody else or was that on your own veichle. If was on your own veichle, is it at all possible to check how it is currently setup and working?
If the nuclues is a dead option, will the I-Connect unit work with the Terk XM Receiver?

I have no idea how Iconnect is going to react either.
that was not my vehicle. but what importent is, the sequense , which I don't remember. Like i said i was pissed and did not care to remember. most likely your guys at the stereo shop been through with the same problem,(that's how they know) I guess they just gave up to soon. |

Another option would be to get a kit that does not connect to the XM reciever, but straight to back of the head unit. There was an iConnect model for cars without XM, but I'm not sure about the Nucleus. The part# for Non-XM cars seems to have disappeared from my parts distributor's web site, but maybe you could still get one your dealer, or from SmartPark (who manufactures it). The PN was GMCL22400.
Hope this helps. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
