Any one with SIR-GM1, Need some Info.

I just installed the Sirius Sir-gm1 on my 2005 cts with no xm with the harness from radioaandmore.com. I was just wondering if the song title and artist is suppose to be displayed on the DIC.

It was my understanding that you need XM to buy that conversion unit. You might want to double check that.

Everything works but it only displays the channel name, I thought it was also suppose to show the song and title.

hay john, how did u go about getting the sirius to work in ur car... seeing im in the same boat as u... i got an 04 cts with no xm, and now i want sirius to come through the factory... thanx in advance...

I had the radio tech 2 to receive the digital radio, Purchased a special harness from www.radiosandmore.com, and had circuit city install the sir-gm1. Everything thing works great and am enjoying Howard and the music. Also just found out that to show the artist and song info. you use the I clock display configuration. Good luck you should have no problems with it.

hay john just to make sure, but is this the right harness i need to connect the satellite radio to, seeing that i dont have this, because i do not have xm radio???

I didn't have xm either, the harness cost $65, I recomend you call them up because the exact product is not listed on their website.

They raised the price of the part within the last couple days
I bought it for 65$, now it is listed on the site at 78$

1. Go to dealership and to them to tech 2 your radio to recieve digital radio (price depends on dealership, but it can only be done there) http://cadillacfaq.com/faq/answers/pdf/xmtech2prog.pdf

4. Install everything yourself or take it to get installed (0$ - alot)

Yeah, any GM dealer can do this.

For Me, it cost 65$ total to get the thing tech2'd and installed

Is there any easy way to tell if you have xm capabilities? antenna on the roof, options on the headunit?

So not to ask a stupid question but the links for the radio cable do not work but the post says I should call to order the harness, kind of conflicting.

My 04 will be here in 2 weeks and I want to have it ready for Sirius, so just to make sure this is the list.

Get SIR-GM1 (sitting here waiting)
Get harness for radiosandmore, if they still offer it
If I can't get the harness, splice into the factory harness and add the pins needed.

I did the NAV, LUX, Sirius install on my Sierra so wiring is no problem

I agree with Ryan. I talked with Sirius and they told me the intent is to convert XM to Sirius.

No, I just added Sirius without having XM before. The harness from radios and more worked great but it isn't cheap. I used the links found here only about a month ago so i would think they still sell it. I remember it being called CTS/SRX harness, at least something with SRX in the title. The total install took me about 15 minutes. I put the SIR GM1 in the glove box and ran the radios and more harness to the back of my nav and it came on instantly.
