Newbie question: should the gas shocks actually help open the trunk the way the one for the hood does? I recently acquired a 2005 CTS. My trunk unlocks, but it takes some serious muscle to actually get the lid open. Just wondering if I should take it to a dealer (it's still under warranty), or if that's just the way it works.
BTW, no spoiler (yet!)
thanks!

I was thinking about putting some kind of shocks on there as well to help the pull up.
We have heavy trunks..normal for our cars |

I ALWAYS lift mine from the very bottom of the trunk, the edge along the bumber which reduces the amount of strength by at least half.
Or come to think about it, just pay a muscular midget to follow you around and when needed he can jack it up with his or her head, hehe.
-That is sooo wrong but sorry, its just me being me. |

-That is sooo wrong but sorry, its just me being me. | When I first got the car, I used to lift it up from above the license plate, which made it really heavy! But, I finally figured it out. Lifting it from the very bottom is a lot easier!
But, seriousely, why didn't they make it the same way as the hood?? |

opening the trunk too fast! Grab it from the bottom lip and
lift it too fast and those struts will just slow it down so fast
it will rip off your finger nails.
If the stupid things won't help open the lid, at least don't
slow me down on the way up.... |
