Re: HID Fogs Installed! Pics!

Thats a separate light that will not change in color if you go to HID's. I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure to get that one triangle light bluish like the HID's you have to put in an white LED bulb.

I buy all my LEDs from www.superbrightleds.com. You want the wedge-base 194-style bulbs. You can choose from 1, 4, 5 and 6-LED arrangements. I have the 6-LEDs in mine. The 5-LEDs can cause some installation problems because they're wider and can be tough to get into the opening.

Re: HID Fogs Installed! Pics!

flickering usually means that its about to die.

They're not very costly, which is good. So just buy another pair of LEDs and swap out the one thats burnt out with one of the new ones. Should take all of 10 minutes.

I've had a couple of interior LEDs flicker and die out on me on my Impala. Whenever I make an LED order, I usually try to order a few extras just in case.

One thing to think about is that these LEDs can be heat-sensitive. Superbrightleds even states on their site that putting them in headlight housings will void the warranty due to heat. With HID headlights, I don't know if there's enough heat to be an issue. I've had the LED triangle lights since May with my HIDs and not a single hiccup yet. I know you had mentioned before in this thread about putting HIDs in yours, but I don't know if you ever did. So, if you're still running halogen bulbs, the heat issue could come into play. Food for thought.

Re: HID Fogs Installed! Pics!

I had both my led triangle lights die on me too. They flickered until death.... and strangely enough, every now and then one of them will randomly start to flicker for a minute or two, then it will be dead for another couple months.

Personally, I prefer the look without any triangle lights at all. I kept the bulbs in so the area "looks" functional in the day, but I'm glad they no longer light up and I would never replace them again. They're useless. They don't match and I think they actually look silly when the hid's are on. Little useless dots.

It looks a lot cleaner without them IMO

Sorry for the rant.

Re: HID Fogs Installed! Pics!

I like them. They match my HID's color perfectly, and the more white light coming out of the front of my car, the better. Plus, I love driving around at dusk or dawn with just my fogs on, because you can see those triangle lights and it just looks mean.

Speaking of flickering, got pulled over the other day because my license plate lights are flickering. Received a warning. I have replacements, it's just too cold and I'm too lazy to work on the car! Gotta get them switched out soon!!!

Turn your wheels all the way to one side. To get at the left light, turn them right and vice versa.
Jack up the front corner a little to give yourself a little more room.
Carefully remove the black pop rivets from the plastic liner on the front side of the wheel well. Pull it down out of the way; you don't have to completely remove it from the car.
You can look up and see the bottom of the headlight housing. There's a large, black, round cap on the bottom of the light. Remove the cap and you can access the triangle light bulb. With your arm in there, you'll be working by feel alone, but it's not bad.
Find the socket and twist it and pull it out.
Swap the bulbs.
Put everything back together and go do the other side. It's not bad. Maybe 5-10 min per side.

I've never felt the need to jack up the car for this job.

You do not need to remove the bumper.
I'm just going to clarify on some things that 1badGMC said to clear things up for you a little more.

1, 2, 3 are the pins you need to remove. Use a flathead screwdriver.

Pull the black thing out of its position & just slip your arm in there (if you need to remove more pushpins, do so.)

From here, you will be working strictly by feel.

There is a fat cap under the headlights, twist it off.
Feel around for the corner/triangle/parking light & squeeze the edges of it to pull it out.
Take the bulb out & replace it with the new LED (remember, LEDs work based on polarity; all that means is that if it doesnt work one way, try taking it out & putting it in the other way). Test to see if it works before you put the cap back on.

done.
