really, we dont need you. we know there is a V out there and we dont need to be reminded of it. if I wanted a LS engine I would go and start the ws6 trans am in storage.
this is not the point. the entire point is to have a high strung v-6 with a lot of power that gives the car a much better front/ rear weight reatio than its v-8 brother does.
there is no challenge or fun in the ls1,ls2,ls6 engines. everything that can be done has been done already. its boring. "hey dude my ls1 v-8 has 600hp.."
"yeah, you and 457 other guys" its no fun.
oh member X, just shut up. you obviously dont know crap about anything. and I already posted basic prices. here let me clue you in. 2 grand for heads are for cutom aftermarket heads, I AM TALKING ABOUT FACTORY MADE PARTS THAT COME ON A SUV.
here let me do a comparo.
average aftrmarket headers, 800. stock manifold, about 100.
we are talking about people spending 1200 on an exhaust that gives you 5-10 hp.
for 1200 you can now add 20hp to the entire power band. probably more since our engines rev 100 rpms more than the suv does.
this si the first REAL breakthrough for preformance for this car since lund came out with the headers. | With labor you'll need at least $2K, 95% of people on this site couldn't replace spark plugs let alone dare to attempt something like this on their 20-30K car. Good luck with your 20hp, you'll be so much faster. |

Someone do a poll on that. How many guys can change spark plugs...
ps. I dont think Kael thinks this idea is for everyone. |

-=wince=-
here lets bring this back.
"Gee guys, check this out. in case you wanted to upgrade your 3.6 to a 3.6 HO I have found that GM is making a High output 3.6L vvt variant. The engine is going to be offered in the Saturn Outlook XE and XR models. The parts you would need from the HO engine to upgrade your 3.6 are:
The intake,
The exhaust Cams
The heads.
This is obviously not for a shade tree mechanic but its the first option for new cams or engine performance upgrades we have come across so far.
I am sure that the first of us to do this (me, or someone in california) will post a walk through for the other members of the site.
Ordering the parts new may be cost prohibitive for someof our other members, but look to scavenge these parts off a wreck in the junkyard in 6 months or so."

I apologize if I ruffled some feathers. I have to agree that this mod is not for everybody. You can lead a CTS owner to the mod but you can't make him take advantage of an opportunity to learn something and improve his ride at the same time. The same guy that is afraid to put a wrench to his car is the same guy that with a few drinks under his belt will risk the lives of everybody on the highway to impress his main squeeze to try to get her pants off. I guess it's all in your priorities. |

but if you guys can get 20HP from a 2K head/cam job, that beats the 40-ish-plus Vs get H/C for 5K or more. trouble is i still think you'd need the tune to maximize it. H/C jobs need tunes on LSx. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
