I didn't want to use trunk carpet so I used the closest grey I could find. It matches great in person. I went for a simple and straight forward look.... I am debating on plexi over the amp. Even with a fan setup under it I feel like it won't get enough air.
Alpine AVI-W200 head unit with XM

JL XR 5.25 in rear stock locations
Rockford Fosgate Power 1000 5 channel amp
Rockfort Fosgate T1 12's
I did it all myself... It took me a full day to do the install. That includes removing all interior (carpet, seats, door panels etc etc) and running all the cables. Building the box and amp rack and trim rings. The inside of the amp rack, the face of the box and the trim rings are covered in matching black vinyl.
It has been done for awhile now, but I never mounted the trim rings. I finally got around to it. I don't miss the dic at all... I would like to have a low fuel indicator, but you can manage without it.
As for cost... did you mean the cost of the equipment or the materials?

I used a Metra dash kit... They have a painted grey one for the 03, and a painted black one for the newer ones. They also have a plain plastic one which is black, but I would get the painted black one for a perfect match. It allows two din sized units or a double din. You can use a single din with a slot for your cd's too.
This is by far the nicest dash kit I have ever used. Most dash kits look cheap and out of place. I just hard wired the radio into the car, but they make a wiring harness for it. You can use a deck like mine and retain your bose/door chimes/etc etc. You just plug it right up.
