Is there a known buletin for the battery?

Remove this ad
Last weekend I got stranded with a dead battery. I didn't drive the car for 3 days and after a 10 minutes drive I waited in the car for 10 mintes with the radio on. Before I had no AC on, no lights no seat heating or anything. Just the radio. When I parked it was also just the radio on.

The battery should not die after 10 minutes, right? I couldn't start anymore. Just ticked. Had to wait an hour for the German AAA (=ADAC).

The battery died on my in the 03 in the winter when I had AC on for the fog on the windows and seat heating and lights. But then I wasn't even in the car. I just locked it and when I got back I couldn't start. That was even odd, but this time I think it's absurd!

Is there a buletin on bad batteries? What do you think?

Re: Is there a known buletin for the battery?

The road assistant checked the load when the car was running again. That was ok...

The A/C Delco bat is crap. Since I stopped driving my CTS. It sits for about a week before it gets driven on the weekend. And normally it's weak or needs a jump. Guess, I need to drive it more

The battery in my '03 was also changed about 3 months ago under warranty. It is one of those secret recalls.

Re: Is there a known buletin for the battery?

A car battery failing after 3 or so years of heavy duty cycling isn't unreasonable.

Re: Is there a known buletin for the battery?

There is a known issue with the dimmer switch for the dash lights. If it is set all the way up, it can cause the computer's communication line to "wake up" over and over again, eventually draining the battery.

See:

http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/tsb/data/pi01828.pdf

It could be that the battery was marginal to start, you did not run it long enough to charge it, and the remaining charge was insufficient to start the car the second time.

I don't have the switch all the way up, so that is not an issue.
Your second theory is plausible, but that still indicates on a pos battery. The car is 3 months old! I will go for the secret recall

Thanks for the tips!
