Question 3.2 with a 3.6 or 2.8 intake manifold

Remove this ad
Ok this might be out there, but is there a differnce between the intake manifolds from the 3.2 to the 3.6 or even the 2.8. I know there is differnt displacement, but wanted to now if it was possible to bolt on a 3.6 o 2.8 intake manifold onto a 3.2 bottom end ? If not what is the differnce?

Reason being is the 3.2 intake manifold and throttle body is 2 individual throttle plate as some people know, and i would like to change to the 3.6 or even the 2.8 single throttlebody that way i can purchase a proper intake kit for it. instead of the simple volant box etc..

Any info would be of great help. thanks

Different in the manner they mount and different in the way they develop torque. You're stuck with what you have. You could polish the interior walls and match the ports. That would help some.

Could you not port and polish the whole intake? I dont know the way the 3.2 is setup but we did it to my friends 5.0 stock intake. Just a thought

I suggested that in post #2. You can do the same to the exhaust ports. The 3.2 is a bit of an orphan, no longer in production and high performance parts are gonna be hard to come by.

Re: 3.2 with a 3.6 or 2.8 intake manifold

the 3.2 is a different engine than the 3.6 and 2.8
while it IS an orphan for the cadillac, gm still does make it for the alfa romeo.
You might want to check for the alfa romeo 3.2L and the mods they have done to it.
The piggy back computer that Luv is thinking of buying is an intersting toy. For the stock configuration the base ECM does a great job of giving us great performance, its when we start to modify the engine that the piggy back controller would start to show its worth. Applications such as blowers or forced induction where the main computer has to be tricked into commanding no timing as to prevent serious knock and to widen the injector pulse widths to accomodate the greater air charge.
