Hi everyone. I have an 04 CTS, that sat for about 3 months. Now that I am driving it again, I am noticing that I have a horrible vibration when I am braking. Its definitely coming from the rear. At first I was thinking rear pads and rotors, until I really paid attention..I just barely apply the brakes and I still get the vibration..if I have them on, it feels like the ABS is activating, and the tires may lock up a little, possible ABS issue? I have no lights on or codes being thrown. It just feels like more than warped rotors. Any ideas??
ABS doesn't apply pressure as much as it releases the break pressure under heavy breaking. So when the system engages you would feel the pedal push back as is typical. You need to take the wheels off and do an inspection, it coudl be your rotors are warped which would react as you describe
Sounds like a bad rear hub. The ABS sender is integral and when it goes bad exhibits the symptoms you describe. I had the same issues in the front until I changed the RH front hub.
Have you checked codes yet? You will be able to verify and track it down which wheel if it is a bad ABS sensor.
