Yeah, saw it....

Sucks, maybe someone here that has some power or authority could get it going to become a TSB....

And it wouldn't work if you told them about this site and that others have done this under warranty??? I know you say they are worthless but figured I ask....

Sent email back, but will send a follow up email later on - don't have everything here and I have to leave in a little while....

Can't believe they are trying not to fix it, specially since there is an easy switch!!!

I will send Reed an email as well and see if he posted it yet on the FAQ site, maybe that will help a little???....

Re: Cluster swap from 03 to 04 - no more analog clock!!!

Yup, early 2003's had an analog clock. 2004 swapped that for a proper temp guage. 2005 added chrome rings, like the V.

I don't think swapping for the temp guage is in a TSB. They simply swap it for another clock. I got mine on eBay two years ago for about $50. It cost me $125 to have it programmed with my mileage. The swap is plug n play, and the temp guage is immediatly recognized on the data bus and starts working.

That's what I told my SM, but he said they couldn't do it and wouldn't warranty it if I did it myself. We'll see what happens.

Re: Cluster swap from 03 to 04 - no more analog clock!!!

I'm pretty sure there's a TSB to fix the perpetually off analog clock, but not to swap it for the newer cluster. My Cadillac dealer also refused the work, so I went to a Chevy dealer with my new cluster and had them send it out for reprogramming, so the mileage was certified to match. Although the receipt said that they installed it, a buddy of mine who works there let me do it myself at home. I keep the receipt in the glovebox, just in case there are any questions.

The big deal is if you don't get the mileage to match. The government considers that fraud and it will void your warranty since the dealer has no idea how many miles are actually on your car until the warranty runs out. I fix everything on my own cars, and have never had to take mine in for warranty work (knock on wood), so I don't worry about it, anyhow.

ody, yeah, they performed the work specified in that TSB, but it didn't work. It worked for about 3 months, but now it's off again. I'm crossing my fingers.

Re: Cluster swap from 03 to 04 - no more analog clock!!!

Yes, it's definatly not a fix!

The service guy at my (now old) dealership said that they can reprogram, swap for the same 03 gage cluster and it will do it again and will not match.... When they did mine last time before the swap, the assistant manager swore to me that it worked when he checked like an hour ago... and yet when I got into my car it was off by 5 hours or so.... so when I called him over and told him what kind of bull shit they are trying to pull... and I told him that I will find a fix (I already knew about this from Caddy Man) he will do it, and he said yes!!! Also the assistant manager week later, before my swap, told me that if the 03 cluster finally got matched up and the battery got disconnected it would get off track again..... idea here...

It's bull shit that we pay all this money, drive a Cadillac and have a clock that's fuked up!!! They should be willing to do whatever it takes to get it done, don't give me the freaken line "we can't fix it so you will have to live with it"..... JUST FUKEN FIX IT THE WAY IT WILL GET FIXED!!! SWAP THE DAMN THING!!!

haha... no. I figure I'll call him tomorrow again. I hate bothering him. He's such a nice dude and always takes great care of me and my car. Any suggestions on a nice tip and a way to do it? Everybody likes beer right? I was thinking a pub pack of goose island. Thoughts?

I don't know, if he was a she.... LOL

Yeah, my old service rep. was cool and always good to me, but I went to this new dealership today and the guy that's my new serive rep. is suprisngly very cool as well.... mind you this was my first visit, and I got there and meet him and said that he needs to go on a ride with me... no objections, never would happen at the old place unless they needed for me to hear something (but that would never happen since it's all normal conditions ).... and they were way too nice to me today even though they know how many times I have been in for warranty service..... even when I got my loaner the lady was like "thank you so much for waiting and have a great day!" - never would happen at the old place either..... I hope this works out for me and in the long run for them as well!!!

I'm pretty sure Koz would love to get his hands on a dealership like that, since it seems that his don't even give you a decent way to ride back home....

We'll see what happens, I will ask him about the clock thing when I got pick up my car and see what he says.... For now, good luck ChiCTS!!!

Re: Cluster swap from 03 to 04 - no more analog clock!!!

I've seen a couple of people recommend disconnecting the battery to mess up the clock. This is actually what my dealer recommended that I could do to fix the clock myself, since its all they do if you bring it in for them to reset it!
