My car went to the dealership yesterday and I requested an 06 CTS 3.6L for my loner car. Holly crap, that's pretty nice and seems a lot more faster and powerfull then my 03 CTS.
I knew there is more horse power and of course the engine being bigger as well, but I did not predict it would be such a big boost between the 2. Just this morning I smoked this 3 series BMW (I think it was the 325i) of the light, it's been an hour since and the kid still propably doesn't know what happened. (and no, we were not racing but then again we went of the line on a light and he seemed willing before the light turned green ) anyways, doesn't matter.... Props to all you 3.6L owners, don't beat up on my 3.2L CTS when you see me.... |

-GT | Would never happen. The HP loss of the 5spd auto is 20% versus the 17% of the manual. 3% would never make up the HP difference. |

It's just that the year is incorrect. They had the 2.6 for 2003 and maybe also 2004...

From my understanding, the new V6 for all the cadillacs is a 4.0L V6 that is sleeved to either 2.8L or 3.6L. I think the 3.2L was a bored out 3.0L opel motor. |

Opel indeed also has a 3.2 V6 engine for some models (Vectra, Signum). But I can't tell you if that's the same as the CTS 3.2. I will ask them at the workshop tomorrow... |

Whereas the rest of us non-V's got the 3.43 rear end. A 3.2L manual will surprise many 3.6L owners.
About the engines...
The 2.6L was a version of the 3.0L opel engine, just like the 3.2L. N.America never recieved this.
The 2.8L is just a lower version of the 3.6L. |

I wouldn't be so quick to think the 3.2 with manuals are slower. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
