| | Cadillac Owners Fanatic | | | | | Partial XM "Preset" Data Loss in XM System - 2006 CTS w/ GPS + XM Something odd happened today as I went out for lunch. A lot of my saved data was partially wiped from my XM presets.
On XM1, all of my stations simply read as their numbers (not the full name).
On XM2, some of the names becames corruped. Like "The Blend" became "he Blen" But this only occured on 2 stations.
Potential Cause?
I went on a business trip on Sunday and didn't get back until Thursday. I started the car in the evening and everything appeared correctly. On Friday morning, everything was also appearing correctly. But Friday afternoon the problem presented itself.
When I started the car on Thursday, it started right up (no problem) and the XM radio was playing. I didn't think to check the "Info -> Battery" option, but after the problem occured I checked it (it read the normal number). So, a power loss from me being gone for 5 days seems unlikely.
Any idea on the cause? |

I've had that same thing happen. I just reentered all the information. What I've seen most often is the loss of use of XM. The system won't allow you to even select it. It just cycles through AM and FM. |

| | Cadillac Owners Fanatic | | | | | Re: Partial XM "Preset" Data Loss in XM System - 2006 CTS w/ GPS + XM Both the dash radio and the XM radio require a small current of dc to maintain the data integrity. The problem is comming from the dcm or the tuner, which loose power after abt. 15 minutes. No fix as yet. They should have put in rechargable batts. |

I have had the loss of XM radio on three occassions. Each time it miraculously reappeared. It hasn't done that for a few months.
I also had the loss of all my XM radio preset data. I had no substantial idle time with the car. It was working fine, I ran in the gocery store and when I came out, there were presets, but they weren't mine. I reset them all and its been about a month with no recurrence.
Great system, but it is a little flukey. |

Also if you try to program one of your steering buttons to page through the presets and page past whats displayed on the Nav your presets no longer work right.
Also occasionally when I turn the car on the last preset will display a channel of 0 with no info, touch any preset and it seems to correct itself. |

Last week I had my XM presets station names revert to "0" but the stations were still there. Then today I stop to gas up and when I restart the car, no XM selectable at all, just FM and AM. I tried powering off the radio, no fix. Then pulled over, killed the car and let it set a couple of minutes. When I restarted XM was back. Sounds like a common fluke in the unit..... This is an 05 V.

anyway, just like you
got in the car, started it up, the xm works but al the channel information is gone. turned car off and off a few times, no effect.
to fix this i went into the main features and i turned OFF personnalization. this of course cleared everything out when i went back into the radio. after this i went back in the main and turned the personnalization feature back on, then went back to xm and the names of the presets had all come back.

-K | Interesting, have you ever experienced the problem I mentioned about the steering wheel buttons desyncing the display? |

-K | Cool!
Thanks, I'll try that next time it happens.
Thanks everyone. Sorry, I've been busy since getting back from my business trip so I only looked at this once before today.
