I was receiving a blinking check engine light today. Seemed to blink twice for about 15 seconds. I noticed it was misfiring. I found out its a misfire on cylinder 6 and a random misfire according to the codes. Spark plug seems to look okay.i believe it may be the coil.is ther anyway to test coils with a meter? All help is appreciated.
Mine was having the same problem. Switched out all spark plugs and engine light was still on. How I figured out it was a coil was I switched that coil to another cylinder and then the misfire transferred over. Easy fix, but now slowly the others are going to go out.
So here is a nice trick. move the misfiring coil to another cylinder, usually one thats accessible without having to remove the plenum. If the misfire code moves with the coil you know its the coil. At this point you just install a new one, and guess what you don't have to remove the plenum. If the code stays with the original misfire cylinder then the problem may be either injector or compression related.
