Got my IPOD kit from radiosandmore today will probably do the install tomorrow afternoon or wednesday evening. Looks like it will take a couple of hours. I'll let everyone know how it turns out
Im getting mine tomorrow and I do not have a xm unit in my vehicle but the source unit(radio) is xm compatible. I am eager to see what the requirments for install are.
OK,
So I hooked up the kit using the directions found at cadillacfaq.com. It works but there is some confusion in the directions about wiring it into the XM reciever. I took the first cut the red/white wire and wired the red wire into the kit but of course only the IPOD worked so I also wired the other end of the red/white xm wire that I cut in and now both xm and IPOD work. BUT,,,
the readout on the screen is inconsistant. When using the IPOD the soft keys on the right side of the screen show XM preselects and when I hold the bottom key down to change to XM, the name changes to whatever is playing on the IPOD IE: D0 T1 That part I can live with but sometimes when playing the IPOD the screen shows the program from the XM channel I've got a call into radiosandmore so will see what they say when they call back.
Go exactley by the cadillacfaq website
"cut the red/white wire going into the xm reciever about 6" from the connector and hook the red wire into the red/white wire going into the reciever and tape of the other side of the cut wire
Hey guys,
Can anybody shed some light on how ti install the Ipod Kit in a 06 CTS with the Bose System with no XM or Nav unit....I checked the cadillacfaq.com but they do not have anything regarding this...help me out guys!
this should work with the 06 since the system is the same, But I have NOT personally confirmed this.
Can you e-mail me about your install issue... I can help you out since I wrote those instructions (whats unclear)... The wire that your run to the rear of the car is the NEW power source for the XM module... so this wire should be wired INTO the Xm module...
As for what is desplayed on the presets... You can hold the preset down to reset it, but the reality is that it does not matter. As I said before, the only shortcoming on this kit is the lack of playlist display (in preset and in main screen). If you can live with that (and I can), then you will have limitless tunes...
