    oil change question

04 cts, after I drain the oil will the filter still have oil inside it or will it have drained so I won't have it running down my engine?

    Thanks in advance, Danny

    Re: oil change question

I'm not understanding your problem here...

I see that you drained the oil, and assumed you put 6qt of new oil in. Hopefully Mobil One, or some other synthetic blend that is allowed.

But you are wondering if the oil filter is drained out? My question now, how come you didn't replace it?

    Re: oil change question

He's asking if the filter housing will be full of oil after the engine has drained, before he has added the new oil.

The answer is no...it will have some oil still on the filter but very little. You can pull the filter out and replace it without making a mess of your engine.
