    20" rims tire size

What size tires are most running on 20" rims? I just put some 20's on today running 255/35/20 8" width.

You need to keep the OD of the new tire within ~1/4" of that of the stick size tire. Go to www.tirerack.com , look up your stock tire size, and click in specs to see the OD. Then look through some 20's, and see what's closest.

I'm just curious what others are running. I have no issues with these tires.

Well I would assume others are running the correct size tires, which is found by doing what I suggested.

...Going to the website is faster than waiting for someone to chime in.

You act as if I'm new to this forum and don't know how to google myself. What is the correct tire size since you seem to know it all?

I'm not sure why you're getting pissy with MoistCabbage when he's offering you good advice.

You should, since they're the wrong diameter (too tall by almost 1-1/4") and they're too wide for the wheels you ordered.

    Re: 20" rims tire size

Wrong size or not they are on the car now and fit without any rubbing. I really was just asking what sizes others are using as a reference and too see how they ride. My car actually rides smoother on the tires and rims I put on than my stock 17's. I wasn't trying to start up an arguement I must've took what moistcabbage said the wrong way and I apologize for coming off like an ass.

I run P225 35 20 on my 8" wide rims. Any wider then that on a 8" rim and you are asking for trouble. The P 255 that you have should be on a 10" wide rim. The side walls are not doing what they are designed to do and non- normal ware and even blow outs can happen.

    Re: 20" rims tire size

They may be 8.5" wide I bought them used and they came off an 07 impala ss. I was aware of the tire size possibly being an issue but before I bought them I called a local tire shop and did a cross reference to make sure I had an optimal fit. They did say the impala tuns a bit bigger tire but if I was to have clearance issues it would be on the upper control arm.

    ----------

They need new tires on 2 of the wheels so ill pry run the 245/35/20 on the fronts and keep the 255/35/20 on the rear.

My post wasn't intended to be a smart ass remark. I figured if you were just sitting around waiting for an answer, you could hop on tirerack and have your answer quicker.

I wouldn't mismatch sizes if the OD isn't VERY close. It could cause wheel speed sensor, ABS, and TCS codes/messages/lights.

Both a 245/30-20 and a 245/35-20 can fit an 8" to 9.5" wheel (per the tire manufacturers' standards), so I think you're being overly conservative to say anything wider than a 225 is asking for trouble. Assuming the tire is kept properly inflated there's no reason to think running a 245 would be a problem. Even the 255/35-20 would be OK if the wheels are actually 8.5" instead of 8".

    Re: 20" rims tire size

At the tires widest point its 9 1/2" wide the way it sit so I'm pretty sure they are 8 1/2" rims. Ill have them measured when I go for a balance and the 2 new tires.

I would keep them all the same size so they can be rotated
