You would have more consensus asking about favorite beers.

    The slippery kind.

    In the correct viscosity.

If you can't decide, go to the parts store, knock all the 10W-30 off the shelf, and buy the ones pointing at you. It doesn't have to be more complicated than that...

    Re: Brand of oil

Use the kind that is imprinted on your oil cap. It's there for a reason. (Mobil1 5w-30)

If you want to insure your engine is clean, add a bottle of Rislone to every other oil change. It's the real deal.

Also, check your oil level religiously. I''m talking once a week, minimum. The CTS is know for eating oil. In my experience the Rislone actually helped a ton at slowing that down.

    Actually, 10W-30 is preferred.

I refer you back to my earlier post. - Choose whatever brand you'd like, it's irrelevant, they're all "good".

When all else fails, read the instructions (owners manual). You might also find that GM specifically recommends you don't use any oil additives.

A worn engine? Have you disassembled it and measured bearing clearances??

Viscosity requirement does not change with mileage. Recommended "summer" viscosity, as stated in the owners manual, spec'd by GM power train engineers, is 10W-30.

I meant the engine with high mileage. Forgive my Google translator, he speaks English worse than me)))

    ----------

I by the way I choose for my engine oil. And by the way the last thing I pay attention to the viscosity. for me more important specification institutions, chemical bases and additive packages. As well as the results of analyzes of waste oil.

Well, experimenting on your own car is fine, but I wouldn't suggest recommending the wrong oil to other members.

I do not suggest to other members of the wrong oil. But each has his head on his shoulders)))

Okay, I've seen every brand of synthetic used but Wal-Marts, but never anything but 5w30.
