There is a huge hole on the right side of the box(facing the engine). That piece wraps around it and keeps the box from vibrating all around.

I agree the directions do suck.

Re: The Great Air Intake Challenge

Does the air intake void your warranty. I heard it does, and I heard it doesn't not sure.

It doesnt void your warranty and even if it did it would take you minutes to put the stock intake back on if you had problems with your engine.

Re: The Great Air Intake Challenge

so hows everyones volant. any quality issues and regarding the filter can you replace it with a K&N one or is it the exact same one. i was showing my dad about how K&N cone filters on their website to filter almost as good as factory filters and he was wondering if the volant comes with a similar type filter. it would help if someone would help out. getting my volant for my bday.

thanks

Both the Volant and the K&N are cone filters using the same filter medium.
Here's my Volant with a custom lid. You can see the filter.

Re: The Great Air Intake Challenge

usually double sided tape, or thin foam tape, or just thin foam of some sort between the housing and lid.

Re: The Great Air Intake Challenge

Does the Volant Intake for the 3.6L also fit on the 2.8L engines? And where is the best place to pick one up?
