I've been on alot of forums over the years but this is the best. This is the kind of factual proven info that we all look for when we come here! I can see a volant coming for christmas-

If you're on a budget, you should've bought a '95 Civic to mod. j/k

Hey we're all a bit cheap here. After all we're driving the cheapest entry level Cadillac. I would love an XLR but can't afford it. Some members stretch themselves to get into the CTS. A few member have had to let their Caddys go. Besides some of would never consider an import.

Re: The Great Air Intake Challenge

Thanks for the great effort!

I was hoping for the Volant to win. I don't care much for that much extra noise. Now I have to see how I can get a Volant to Europe...

Robert, Contact Fast Specialties, where we did the test. They have indicated they would do a Group Buy for the forum. Talk to Ron or Amber.

http://home.fastspecialties.com/

I'll bet you could even talk them into being a vendor sponsor.

Re: The Great Air Intake Challenge

Haveblue, gotta question for you.

For the 3.2L which will be better the Volant which makes you reuse stock tubing or the K&N ??

That question will be answered by Ody's dyno test. He's doing his 3.2 next.

Re: The Great Air Intake Challenge

Does the K&N for the 3.2L replace the intake tube?

For the 3.2L dyno runs, I only plan on running stock, TonyA, and Volant, unless someone has a 3.2L K&N they want to loan. HaveBlue is shipping me my TonyA back, along with a stock intake for the runs, which I'll be 'forced' (due to the popularity of this thread) to schedule asap.

I'll also be doing identical runs with the stock wheels and tires, and 18" wheels and tires (9 lbs heavier, each), just for grins. Unfortunately, I've already installed my Borla dual exhaust, so I likely won't be doing a completely stock baseline.

Re: The Great Air Intake Challenge

Yes the k&n replaces the intake tube... Doesnt reuse the stock tubing like the 3.2L Volant... That's why I'm interested in seeing for the 3.2L whether the Volant or K&n would be better.

Oh Tripleought has the k&n for the 3.2L, hopefully he'd be willing to ship it over to you.

Re: The Great Air Intake Challenge

i'm so glad i have the borla on...i'll be able to know exactly what my car is like since they are identical.

alright already, for the purposes of R&D i can send you my 3.2 k&n, it wouldn't be fair to do the test without it, as we'd have soooooooooo many more questions about whether it was better. SO, i need to know if you actually plan on doing this soon and if so, where to send the kit. then once i get it back i will decide what to do with it...

Re: The Great Air Intake Challenge

The 2hp difference might fall into standard deviation for experimental error. I'm far to lazy to actually figure out the percentage though.

Yep, the 3.6 is 219.6 cubic inches. That means even stock this car makes 1 HP per Cubic inch AT THE REAR WHEELS! That's huge.
