How much time did it take between runs to swap the intakes? I'm guessing you swapped them out while the car was still on the dyno?

yeah, we left the car strapped down, took about 20 minutes to change, I got pretty quick at it.

Hard Facts dont lie! We need to do the same test on rotors.......
LOL, that's pretty funny, thanks.

As far as the rotor deal, we'd need a brake dyno like this

I will have some more to talk about after SEMA in regards to friction products though.....

Re: The Great Air Intake Challenge

So the Volant is the best overall and with less noise but if you like the loudness then u can go with the K & N with little HP loss ?? Is that correct.

Re: The Great Air Intake Challenge

Yes guys, thank you very much for all your efforts. I have to say that I'm really surprised to see that we can realistically obtain a 5.7% increase in RWHP for under 300 bucks. As a guy that has done alot of drag racing in the past, I can that that isn't an easy feat.

Thanks again!

Re: The Great Air Intake Challenge

To temper all of this, remember the TonyA mod made 4.9 HP for only $40 ($8.16/HP). The volant made 13.3 HP, but runs around $250 ($18.80/HP). Bang for the buck, the TonyA is clearly the winner. But for overall HP gains, Volant (and K&N) likely due to the larger filter area on the cone filters. If one doesn't have $250 to spend, there's no excuse NOT to do the TonyA mod. I've had both, but run the Volant since putting the V front bumper on, which closes up the lower air intake for the TonyA.

For reference, the B&B dual exhaust claims to make 12 HP on the 3.6L, but runs closer to $1000!

Re: The Great Air Intake Challenge

That was what I predicted, but I'm suprised the numbers are that high. I think everyone with a CTS should be happy to see this. 13 more hp out of the Volant is a good mod.

Re: The Great Air Intake Challenge

Looks like I need to throw away my TonyA soap box Anybody have a crow for me to eat? But like Ody said if you're on a budget the TonyA is a good $40 mod.

Thanks HaveBlue..now I guess I need to cough up $250 on a Volant. Where's the best deal on a Volant? I have a good deal on a TonyA

Re: The Great Air Intake Challenge

www.lildevilmotorsports.com is where i ordered my borla from...they have the volants (3.2 or 3.6) for 277.00 each with free shipping. this siite is fast, organized, and an absolute pleasure to do business with. they shipped my borla within 1 day and offer details and updates on where the equipment is in the shipping process through their website. i think the going price for the volant is around 270, but you may have to pay 15 or so in shipping...give them a look...
