    Brake Job Fail

    All was going well until the front passengers side Brake Caliper Bolt sheared and broke off in the Caliper Pin!!! I have the JE5 performance brakes and the parts wont get in until Thursday!!!

    Fortunately, I have a flexible schedule...Here are some pics

    looks like it was seized.
    you could go to a machine shop, have it drilled out and tapped and have them make you a new bolt for it.

    i think all the calipers 2003-07 NON-V are the same...i know they say there is a difference but i think its just the rotors.

    I think the difference is in the rotors as well as the bracket to allow the caliper to be farther away from the center. To make room for the extra 1/2 inch on the rotor.

    But that bolt and caliper pin that broke, should be the same.

    The je5 caliper pin isnt the same size as the non je5 pin...

    That shouldn't be hard. Why not use a stud extractor then replace bolt with similar one. Or better yet what I would do is tack weld a nut to it, if you don't have a welder any shop can weld a nut to it, you don't have to leave thigns like that.

    I dont have those tools or the know how. Now I know for next time! Parts should be here this afternoon : )

    Add this also for next time, get a vice grip and secure it ver well, it will get it done. And if that doesn't for any reason, if you have a bench vice, grap the stud with the bench vice and rotate the caliper bracket by hand it should come off.
