    Random hood question

How many struts are there supposed to be? One each side? Or just one for the entire hood?

I only have one on the passenger side, and my driver side tends to woble a little in the wind.

    Re: Random hood question

if you are talking about the support lifts, there is only supposed to be one on the passenger side, one really long one at that.

I would suggest for your issue to check how secure the nuts holding the hood to the hinges are. That could be your issue. The strut should have almost no impact when it comes to how your hood behaves when it's closed like that.

I think he means it wobbles when it's open, not while driving.

I thought there was supposed to be two total. One each side. At least my 04 has both.

Are you sure you are not talking about the trunk? I have not seen a CTS as of yet that has two lift supports at the hood, I would like to have that actually but don't think that's how it is.

Your talking about the shocks that compress when closes and expand when open, right?

In any case, they have nothing to do with hood movement while driving.

    Re: Random hood question

I knew the 03's had the double gas pistons, but I didn't know that the 04's did too.

956Caddy, what month/year was your CTS made? It'll say it on the driver door/door sill.

It's funny how the spots are there in my 06. But I just need to buy a piston and the ball in which it snaps onto.

Oh, to the OP. Yeah my hood wobbles too in the wind. I noticed it after the 2009 head on crash where the hood was replaced, along with other things. A factory hood was used for replacement. Now with that said, I do not recall either way if it wobbled or not before.

If the hood is wobbling in the wind can't you just adjust the bumpers? I adjusted mine while inspecting the car before I even bought it.
