    car not starting

Need some help, i have an 03 CTS with 140,000 miles. It was ruining fine and suddenly the next day, it won't turn over. Then later that day i stepped on the gas and then tried to star it and it started, a little rough but it straightened itself. Then the Mex day won't start again. next day i started the car with the gas pedal, went and got gas, got home turn car off and hasn't come back ever since. i started reading in the forum and i saw a thread were somebody had similar issue and they replaced the Evap purge valve. I did that and i still have the same issue.

I read that fuel pump issues are almost null in this vehicle. I don't know what to try next.

Any light you can share will be greatly appreciated.

How old is your fuel filter? Maybe try replacing that.

I would also get or rent a fuel pressure tester and make sure you're getting proper pressure.

Did your car throw any trouble codes. If so, what are they? Push F1 & F6 to get codes.

    Re: car not starting

Art you have alot of codes. Some are for your air bags. Others are for your ECM (electronic control module). Here is a site to plug in your trouble codes. The ''C'' at the end of the codes read currently an issue. The ''H'' means history of being an issue. http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answers/dtc/index.html. It may be your ECM. I've read where alot of people are having problems with them in the 2003 model year.

Hopefully someone who knows alot more than me can chime in.

Your ECM is not communicating. Check the ECM fuse first to see if its blown.

Thank you for the information, i will check the codes in the site. Do you know the part number for the ECM? I would like to start checking prices on that. Any idea on how much is it to flash it to the car?

    Thanks again

Yes, the ECM fuse should be in the underhood fuse box.

Thank you all for the help... It ended up being the crankshaft sensor. Replaced that and it's running like a champ again... sort of, found out my water pump is leaking. At least that's what it looks like. Need to start researching on that. Any link to a thread on how to replace the water pump?.

Thanks again to everybody that helped.
