Cadillac CTS First Generation Forum - 2003 - 2007 Discussion, When Upgrading to Nav- with Base System in Cadillac CTS Coupe, Sport Sedan and Sport Wagon Forums; What do I loose?
Is my phone feature still going to work? Is my volume controls on the sterring wheel ...
Near impossible to find, especially the '05 with the Navtraffic. I've been on a hunt since I got my car (of course I said I would never use Nav when I bought it). Im in NYC and it's at the point where I may just give up all together and buy a TomTom. If you can get one locally, let me know where locally is, and I'll buy it on the spot, like most everyone else in this forum.
At a minimum, the Nav has updated software for integrating the traffic data. It could quite possibly require an add-on box to the existing factory XM tuner for the traffic decoder (or an updated XM tuner with that function integrated). Simply putting in an '05 Nav will not give you the functionality, since you will obviously need an factory '05 XM tuner and NavTraffic decoder box, if that's required. NavTraffic is a separate subscription from regular XM radio, and like the voice traffic on XM, only available in a few select metropolitan markets.
While it has potential, it's not all that. You can get the same information verbally on specific XM traffic channels now. If the data is an hour old, its just as useless on your Nav as it is on a radio broadcast.
