    nEW uSER! EXPERT info needed...

Hey everyone I just bought a 2006 CTS 3.6l V6 a couple of weeks ago and I already fell in love with it. I got it with 79k miles on it and a clean carfax! No accidents reported and Im only the third owner. The exterior is thunder gray and it has the two tone leather with wood on the steering wheel, dash and door handles. It has On-Star and the Bose system. I was told that the color was considered an upgrade when they originally came out. Is this true? Is this two tone leather anything special? I mean I personally love it but Im wondering if this car was considered a special pack with these features.

One thing I dont like about it is that when I shift from park into drive the cark jerks really hard. Any idea what this could be?

As far as customizing, I havent done anything crazy yet and most likely ill keep it mostly factory. I am getting the K&N cold air intake put in. I want clear side markers and clear fogs. Other than that Im not sure if I will do much more. Any suggestions of things to change up? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!!!

Thunder Gray is a tri-coat paint I think, so it would've been a more expensive option when purchased new. The two tone leather is not anything special, many CTS's have that. As far as the jerking that sounds like the differential bushing(s). RevShift has poly-urethane replacements available.

The Volant CAI is the most recommended for the 3.6L here on CF, just so you know.

I actually had the CAI installed last night but thank you for your recommendation. My next thing will be to replace the headlights. They are oxidized and very cloudy. I had someone try to remove it but all he did was scratch the lenses. What company would you recommend me get the headlights from? This may be a stupid question but will I have to replace the complete headlight or can i just change the lens?

You have to replace the whole headlight. OEM Headlights go for like 175 - 200 bucks a pop. Not crazy stupid but not cheap for just headlights. You will also have to remove the front bumper to change out the headlights. Not difficult, just time consuming and somewhat of an annoyance.

I had a dealer mechanic check the way mine shifted out of park. He said it wasn't too bad, but there was a "flash" update they could do that may make it a little better. He said there was no permanent fix by Cadillac. But really he said it was normal. I don't know the cost of the update would probably guess a one hour min.

thanks so much for the update. Mine is really weird. Sometimes it doesnt do it at all and other times it shifts real hard. I cant figure it out. If its nothing dangerous to the transmission and the mechanic said its normal Ill probably just leave it alone.

The hard shifting could be electrical. Since our cars have electrically controlled engines & transmissions. A problem in the ECM or TCM could cause that. For instance 1st gen cts are prone to having ECM failures & 1 symptom is communication failures. That's why it happens to feel hard sometimes & ok at other times. A diagnosis of both computer could tell if they are or have had communication problems. Just my 2cents..

thanks ctsbboy! I sure hope its not an electrical issue. I have heard horror stories about electrical issues with these cars. Can you tell me what ECM and TCM mean? Also, when I take my car to the shop, what should I get inspected? I just recently go the car and its due for an oil change in about 2,000 miles. What kind of inspection should I get done or what should I get checked?
