    Wont crank over. Weird symptoms

V6...sat for about 5 months without driving. Tried to start yesteday. just got a clicking like low battery. Put charger on it for a couple of hours. It started and drove it for about 15 mins. Wouldn't start today..Same symptoms. Key wont come out of ignition. It is on accessory position Disconected battery and charged for bout 1 1/2 hrs. DIC said it was putting out 14.5 volts yesterday. At battery, it reads 11.5 with digital meter. Key still won't come out. Battery about 2 yrs old. Bought this car 2 yrs ago with 77k on the odometer. has 86 k now. Should I have bought a Chevy?

I would bet its the battery, buy a new one and start there. Its possible sitting for so long there may be dead cells in the battery now. I would probably have put it on a trickle charger.

As for Chevy this is a high end Chevy. Mostly same parts, different door. Lol

I went to Sam's Club this afternoon to check on a battery. They don't even carry one that fits. Figures. My old daily driver Jeep had cranking issues earlier this year. It'd crank over but not start. Had battery tested and it had sufficient voltage but only about 150 cranking amps. Put in a new one and cranks like a champ.

Well, I left the battery disconnect over night and hooked it back up when I got off work..Amazingly...it started. Don't know what the change was but it's running now. Drove it for about an hour and stopped and started it several time. I'm leary of things that fix them selves but good for now. Will be driving it more often to make sure that the issues don't return.

Of course they don't have a group 101 battery- hardly anyone does, and if they do, it's way more expensive than the group 78 you ought to put in there, anywayBy the way, I have an 84 Avanti that stays on a trickle charger all the time- the battery is now 9 years old and still strong.
