    Oxygen Sensor Replacement

Does anyone know an easy way to get to the Bank 1 oxygen sensor connector on a 2004 CTS? I can see the sensor no problem however getting to the connector to unplug is a real pain and I can not even see it from under the car. My big stubby hands just barely reach up and around the catcon to feel the wiring harness. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Go from the top (still not easy) tie a string to the connector and pull it through. installation is the reverse. Be carefull though I broke a wire installing one and didn't know it.

Is this for the 3.6L V6? I have a similar question for the upstream oxygen O2 sensor on the driver's side connector. Mine is SRX. Does anyone have a picture, or a good description, of the release for the connector that is buried between the driver's side head and the firewall? This would be Bank 2, Sensor 1. Trying to replace the catalytice converter.

    Re: Oxygen Sensor Replacement

What a nightmare. Only reason I could get a look at it was I was doing a clutch and I had the back of the cradle dropped. The connection on the harness has one of the sliding yellow lock pieces even with that I had to stick a little screwdriver in it. Counterintuitive to most the end of the o2 sensor is the end attached to a clip on the engine not the engine harness side.

Thanks. I figured it out. You have to remove or at least displace the engine cover and sound insulator. Then you have to grab the connector firmly and pull it loose from where it is clips into the head by Christmas tree clips. Once you do that there is plenty of room for your hands and to see what you're doing. Use your left hand to depress the latch on the harness side, and pull on the sensor side.
