There are some of you who are familiar with my driving habits, and some who are not. Lets just say, I get the DIC to show "TOP SPEED REACHED" more often than not. Im pretty familiar with the numbers, and usually know whos worth playin with and whos not.
I work with a guy who has a BMW 330i Coupe. Last night we got off work at the same time and had the oppurtunity to brawl on the way home. Speed is my drug, I cant get enough. Drugs kill, and so does my bad habit, dont tell me about it. Me and my buddy were balls to the wall over atleast 10 miles of highway. It was a dead heat and a thrill to drive. I concede one inch of car length to my competitor.
As somebody who refuses to lose or admit to come close, my BMW driving friend told me the next day that he had earned more respect than he ever knew for my Caddy CTS. His manual vs. my auto. He said he never drove so hard.
I claimed his inch lead was due to his lack of a rear set of doors, and desired the oppurtunity to test that theory. Boy, the speed gods do hear my prayers. Got to play tag with a 330i Sedan on the way home tonight. This time, the inch lead was mine!! Yay for me.
I share this story because some of us like to talk about how we dusted that guy in this car or that car. I will say that when tempting the fates and driving all out, there is no experience better than going up against an even match. Its not about performance, its about skills.
I claimed my one inch victory tonight, and was given an approving nod by my competitor.
Lets forget about who dusted who, I wanna know who had a draw and how fun it was to pull inches on eachother at a time. For those of you who do drive a 130+mph car, and never took it past 85, I implore you, try it once and share the high. |

Here's one for you CTS Orlando.........I work next to OIA and had to get home "in a hurry" yesterday. Not racing anyone (just the clock) but I made it over to our neck of the woods in roughly 10 minutes. Parking lot to driveway. How did I do? |

Pretty sure the BMW coupes actually weigh a very little MORE than the sedan. So not sure why the 330i sedan would be slower. Probably driver differences or the 330 sedan had a slushbox.
The CTS is a great car but, IMO, they do not equal a sport package BMW 3 series. Straight line they do but put them in the twisties and the BMW wins. That is not a slam to Caddy at all - before the CTS you couldn't even credibly compare anything Caddy had to offer against the BMW.
Now just think if you got the 6-speed with your CTS - you could put youself well ahead of your buddies 330! |

CTS Orlando- do you have any Mods on your Caddy?? |

My best friend has a bmw 330 sedan with SMG tranny and sport package, I've never raced him really since we havent gotten in the expressway together but I must say the bmw is quick and it feels a lot stabler cornering fast, however he has stability control, which my 3.2L base cts does not. The cts doesnt have much to envy to the 330, my car had a base cost of 29k when i bought it and hes car was in the mid 40k, and the performance is pretty even and I get more looks |

Blue, I tip my hat to the BMW. Im just saying that the thrill is in the dual. To me its not fun winning or losing by 5 car lengths, its running balls to the wall trying to pull an inch on the guy whos playin the game. A "Photo Finish" is my thrill.
NYCTS, no engine mods, but I think the body matched grill and 18" wheel upgrade adds 5hp.
JBL, as far as stability control, my car is a totally different animal since the 16 to 18inch wheel upgrade. The steering and cornering preceision and control has increased 10 fold. |
