    Rear Diff

Hey guys I have an 04 3.6L automatic. My rear end was going out and I drove the car last night to get pizza. When I tried to leave it wouldn't go into reverse or neutral with the car running. It would shift with the car off and the key turn to on. It only goes into the forward gears. Any help would be great.

Unless your rear is completely burn up and has heat welded itself rock solid it certainly would have given your a deffinite indication before it locked up . I would base my conclusion on the facts given you have a transmission issue at this point. A little more info would be helpful.

    Re: Rear Diff

It was going into reverse fine all day. I was getting the rear end wheel hop when I accelerated. Last night it just stop going into reverse. When I turned the key all the way forward, the car went into reverse and it rolled back, but it wouldn't do that while it was running.

If the car will roll its not the rear locked up. I would look into your linkage assembly to make sure it's all good but if all forward gears and park works then I still lean toward a tranny issue. In any case sounds like a reputal tranny shop or perhaps a dealer could disgnose your issue a lot easier than a forum. Best of luck to you to get the issue resolved.
