    Rear jacking points

I'm going to change out my fuel filter in a week or so. It's located right where a jack would be, in front of the passenger side rear wheel. So, I'm looking at other jack stand points under the rear so I can get to the filter while gaining a bit of clearance.
I'll jack it from the pinch weld point right in front of the rear passenger tire, then place a stand. Which spots have you guys used? I numbered some areas in these pics and I don't want to jack or stand on the diff. Thoughts?

Where you have the arrow in the third pic is exactly where I put my stands. The top of my stands are just wide enough so that the frame part sits just inside the lip on the outside edge of the stand. Never had any problems there.

That spot looked awfully appealing so I'm happy to confirm. Thanks.

Kind of unrelated, but I noticed from the pictures that you have Hankooks on your car. How do you like them? I have the V2 Concepts and while the ride and the traction are great I noticed they rumble alot after 75 MPH, whats your experience?

Any of the spots you've indicated in the pics will work just fine. So would the diff, for that matter - there's no reason to be worried about putting a jack or stand on the diff. For what you're wanting to accomplish, though, I would say one of the two rear subframe locations you identified would be the smartest choices, as they'll keep the car up higher.

    Problem solved

We had old rusty beat steel ones. Our Caddy's could not get on them without blocking.
Found a set of low rise plastic ones and have been thrilled since.
About the price of a cheap set of jack stands.
Lite - fast deployment - safe - no rust - store easy enough.

I do have a set of ramps, but they would be in the way. If I backed the car onto them, the lowest portion of the ramp would be right where I will be laying. Not too comfortable of a place to lay, right on top of the raised portion of the ramp.
The hankooks are fine. I haven't really noticed a difference to be honest. I have continentals as well and they make no more noise than others. But I don't drive the hell out of the car either.

    Re: Rear jacking points

I've never had to jack up a car to change the fuel filter, but I've yet to change it on the CTS. I also hate jacking up unibody cars. hehe.

    Re: Rear jacking points

I do hate jacking unibody as well. Takes me a minute to think through the right points. It's not that you can't get your hands on the filter without the lift. Just hat you'll find it hard to break the quick disconnects free without some working room.
