How to remove OnStar system to transplant into another car...

I'm about to start pulling everything I want to keep from my parts car 2005 CTS-V and want to take the OnStar system to put into an older car, possibly my '96 Impala SS or even my '85 Mini. Has anyone else done this before? I don't want to have to dismantle the entire car to find the components so if anyone can point me to the right spots that would be great. Obviously I'd start with the mirror and mirror harness, but where do I go from there?

Not sure if it would work but you would definitely need the speake, antenna, and mic. Of course you would need the brain in the trunk. I thought onstar was tied in with the cars computer.

I want to say that I've heard of someone transferring the system on their own. I pulled the brain, mirror and I think the antenna. Where's the mic and speaker located?

I believe it's by the sunroof switch console. The speakers may be tied into your speakers. overrides stereo when pressed. So I could be wrong about needing the speaker. You might have to tie it into your stereo or add a separate speaker.

I'll definitely have that then as I pulled the headliner, sunroof controls and sunroof assembly.
