HID blinking out momentarily, then back on... but only when I make hard right turns!

So, I've had my '05 CTS High Feature for a couple years, and it has always had an issue with the left headlamp blinking out for a second during really hard right turns (though not every time, and weather/temp seems to have no effect), then it comes back and all is well.

I've considered looking into it, but it seems the HIDs are a pain to work on, so I figured I'd wait until they croaked. Well, the other night I made a hard right turn and the left lamp went out... then it stayed out... for a couple minutes. I figured it's telling me that I can't procrastinate on this any longer. Do you think it's just a loose connection at the ballast, or what? I see no evidence of water intrusion in the lamp housing, but maybe I just can't see it.

Is there some specific thing that I should be looking into first? I searched for a similar problem here, but found nothing. Then, that's the way it usually goes: I have a problem no one has ever heard of before. lol

    Thanks,
    ~S~

I had a similar issue that KOT helped me solve. Try switching the bulb to the other side (its a pita) and see if it stays with the bulb. Mine did so I replaced the bulbs and the flickering stopped no problems since.

How are are your bulbs, OP?

If they came with the car. Then if I were you, I would replace the bulbs anyways.

Thanks, guys. I think I'll just replace the lamps (might as well do them both, right?) and we'll see how it goes. D1S is the replacement part, correct? Is there a favored color temp and brand? I'm not looking for some silly blue light, I just want ideal performance without blinding oncoming traffic.

    Thanks again!

Yes replace in pairs is the best idea. As far as temp i don't even know what I put in. D1s is correct, I got mine at autozone and I think they were sylvania's. I lost a bit of the blueish tint from the stock bulbs with the ones from autozone but I don't mind them, they work just as good.

Sounds like a loose electrical connection to me. Honestly, you should go through and check everywhere something is plugged into something else.

I'm not all that concerned with temp. I thought that stock was something like 4500K, but I'm not sure. I'll research it before I buy replacements; the OEM temp is perfectly fine in my opinion.

That's what I thought, too. I will look for loose connections if I can see them without tearing the car apart. But if I have to start taking this sucker apart, I'm going to replace the bulbs while I'm in there and hope that was the fix. Modern cars are a PITA.

If I recall correctly, 4,300K is factory. But good luck in finding that, besides 4,500K as you mentioned, is perfectly fine and probably not that much of a difference.

Yes stock is 4500K. 6000K is pretty much as clear white as you will get before it starts to go blueish. I have 6000K headlights and fog lights and it is crystal clear and bright as all fawk, and never had one person flash me.
