    Ok need help opinions, direction, with rear end Please !

    Ok guys here it is my car

    2004 cts 3.6 120.xxx.xx auto

    I have replaced the fallowing

    Drive shaft support with bearing, rear bushing differential, trans mount , service differential, service transmission And still have this weird grinding noise form the rear end

    HERE IS THE KICKER ! If i have passengers in the rear seat the freaking noise goes away quite as a mouse. This is driving me nuts anyone advice greatly appreciated

    Noise only when under acceleration , Also when I service the rear end did not put in additive I called the dealer and they said the car did not need the friction modifier !

    i also had noises from the rear that drove me nuts for years. I had grinding noises, whining and even clunks/thumps when shifting into a different gear or hitting the gas. I replaced a rear differential bushing (ther are 3,but only 1 was bad), both rear wheel bearings and even the differential itself last week. ALL noises have disappeared. No grinding, whining or clunking. I always think the "grinding" was from the differential, from bad gears or something, but i cant confirm that for sure. But i do know the whining was from the bearings and the clunking/thumps was from a bad differential bushing(vehicle would also move a bit).

    Without hearing this noise its kinda hard to say...since the CTS is a IRS type suspension, these cars have a CV joint at each end of the shaft driving each of the rear wheels. Preload caused by greater cargo weight is likely to shift the suspension to a different orientation and, in your case, change alignments and thus any noise produced...or has it really stopped? maybe just sounds different. I'm sorry I cant help more than this. I have noise in my '05 too, but its more of a low rumble at speeds greater than 45mph. k
