Re: 2007 2.8L Clutch Blown Any Good Aftermarket Kits?
Well I'll throw in since no one seems to know much about the manual cars lol. I've talked to several of the major packagers. I say packagers because they just buy components and put them in their own box with few making their own. Valeo is the OEM manufacturer of the clutch and if you buy a kit that's mostly what you will get. The flywheel seems to me made by Sachs originally and at some point luk as Sachs has discontinued it. The flywheel is a dual mass type and can't or won't be resurfaceable. I found a Sachs tech paper that says its good for one clutch replacement and that's it if it isn't obviously damaged. OK now to the non valeo options. Spec clutches makes their own from stage 1 to stage 5 race clutches and if you have the cash a complete one piece aluminum flywheel setup that uses a different pressure plate disc combo with a replaceable friction surface. All spec clutches are advertised as made in usa. We have the same setup as the new v6 camaro guys so we can thank them for that option lol. Exedy is a big Japanese OEM maker offers a kit that seems to be made in USA or japan. Perfection clutch is probably the last not to use the valeo clutch. They sell under many brands zoom being the best known, I think ours are marketed under the brute brand. They own their own factory in china and the people I talked to seemed to have a high opinion of them. If you go to advance auto you get a perfection clutch with a claimed lifetime warranty. Let us know how it goes!
