    2006 Cadillac Cts acceleration Problems

Well this is my first post, i have been a devoted cadillac owner for 8 years. I started off by owning some very old ones and still have them, recently i bought a 2006 CTS 3.6 6 speed manual for my daily driver, it has 116k miles on it so i got it on the cheaper side. for the last two weeks ive noticed my acceleration is sometimes great and sometimes horrible, its like the torque just disappears, no matter in what gear, when its happening it doesnt matter how much throttle i give it it doesnt go any faster. i have already replaced the plugs with new ac delco as it looks like it was never done. No lights come on when it happens. also sometimes i get slight rough idle. im not sure and i dont have a scanner but could it be a bad coil?

Could a bad coil, since you've done the plugs already and I assume that the problem still happens.

When the rough idle happens, does it seem its like a misfire? If you can, take it to a parts store of small business shop to see if they can run a "live scan". Try the parts store first as they don't charge. But they may not have a good enough scanner. Most scanners can not do a live scan, specially the cheap ones.

If the rough idle is happening, they should be able to see the misfire and tell you which cylinder. A couple years ago, my rough idle happened to be cylinder number 2's coil. Replaced it and its been fine since.

Did you do a live scan? Because certain misfires will not produce a code for most scanners. No check engine light either.

Nope, my brother has one at his shop. Though his cost about $1,500. I believe this is what he has...

But there isn't really a need for that one. Just as long as the scanner can do a live scan, it should be able to see it. They maybe the $200 and up range to get that ability.

I can see misfire codes with the Torque android app and an OBD bluetooth adapter. Adapter and the paid version of the app anywhere from $40 to $100. The Torque app has saved my ass many times on both my cts and my escalade.
