    Re: Name your cars game!!

    I like this game! Here's what I've had since I was 16:

    The Ghosts of Driving Past...

1966 Mustang 200cid (Total lemon, but it got me all the way through college)
1988 Chevrolet Cavalier (A car. Yep. Not much else to say about it.)
1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7 (Every single wacky 60's option, 36k miles... Kicking myself for selling that!)
    1996 Mercury Tracer (Ugh...)

And the ones I've still got...

1986 Lincoln Town Car: Call me insane, but I absolutely love this thing. I've had it for eleven years and it has never, ever, not once broken down. When my other cars died, this one was quietly waiting in the garage and has never failed to start on the first turn of the key. It gets 8 mpg, but... I just don't care. I will never get rid of this car! It's flawless inside and out, black with a black top (and it's hand painted the way they used to make 'em. NO orange peel like you see on even high-end cars today!) and red leather interior / pinstripe. Everything works, even the loud, buzzing power windows. (You HAD to have loud buzzing power windows back then so you could show everyone what a high-roller you were.) Honestly it's built pretty cheaply, lots of vinyl and 'wood' so fake it's probably made of imitation plastic. But it is smooth, fast, and looks like nothing else on the road!

1995 Cadillac SLS: If cars could count as 'gateway drugs' then this one fits the bill. My first Cadillac, it got me hooked on the brand and brought me to this site! Except for continual headaches over a mystery-clunk in the front and the dreaded 'Ride Control' bug, it's a fantastic car. Everything works, and to me at least it looks incredibly sporty for a large sedan. The Northstar has seemingly endless amounts of power and what's better, it has that classic V-8 growl! When I got my latest car, I just didn't have the heart to trade the ol' girl in and decided to give it a second lease on life. Now my brother and his two girls are enjoying -their- first Caddy. Sending that beauty to the crusher would have ranked among man's most awful crimes.

2005 Cadillac CTS: My new baby, as of three weeks ago. 3.6, Dark charcoal metallic with cream, full service history, and nearly every option. Thanks to the many useful threads on this forum I was able to pick one that was just right! This one has 74k miles, but it still doesn't have its first scratch yet, and even the door handles and gear knob have no wear and tear - when I showed it off to my parents I had to show them the sticker because they couldn't believe that I hadn't bought a brand new car. The only flaw I've found is that the grille-badge had fallen off... Now I'm on the lookout for upgrades and details to improve and personalize it; besides a new badge (something fun perhaps) I'm looking to modify the entertainment system.

There are a lot of good sources here on adding an input-jack through the XM module, but I am curious: I've heard that it's possible to tinker with the OnStar to get Bluetooth capability. Has anyone tried this? I'm one of those that won't talk on a cell-phone when I'm moving but frankly, pulling over is even more dangerous. Hands-free kits mar the aesthetics of the dash, so this would be a great option, that is if it actually works well.

(Will post some pics when I'm able!)

    Re: Name your cars game!!

    1st car:
    [$900] 1995 Chevy Beretta 3.1L V6 Coupe-
Mod'ed intake/K&N filter, 2.5" exhaust w/ cat-delete, clipped springs, resurfaced/slotted OEM front rotors, Platinum 4 spark plugs (too hot, didnt care), constant diet of E93... drove it like I stole it.

That car was a lot of fun. I didnt ever put a chip in it, or tune it, so it governed at 110mph. I was young and dumb and immature and drove that thing around with the cruise control set at 107. Handled great, was quick enough to be loads of fun. I hated that car. I vowed never to own another FWD/transverse engine vehicle.

    2nd car:
    [$9,000] 2005 Cadillac CTS 3.6L V6 Sedan-
Volant cold air intake, breather cap, tranny cooler w/ gauge, debadged, constant diet of E93.

This is the car I was looking for. I had criteria set; Front engine, RWD, auto, sedan, V6. It was either this or a 1999 Lexus GS300 (I love the 2jz), but the Lexus looks exactly like a Camry, exactly like a KIA, exactly like BMW, exactly like everything else in the parking lot. Enter the Cadillac CTS. The car that looks exactly like the Cadillac CTS. I love this F-ing car.

1st - Age 19 - 1995 Cadillac STS ($5,100) - Purchased at 135k totalled by a wrath of god hail storm in 2006 at 165k, we're talking baseball sized. Do a YouTube search for "Northfield MN 2006 hail storm" for some nice vids taken by residents...
2nd - Age 20 - 2001 Cadillac STS ($11,995) - Pruchased at 84k. Bought this before my 95 got destroyed, drove her up to 233k before parting with her for $1,500.
    3rd - Age 25 - 2004 Cadillac CTS 3.6 ($13,500) - Purchased at 46k. Bought her to replace the aging 2001.
4th - Age 26 - 2006 Cadillac STS V8 ($15,999) - Purchased at 71k. Got her last year once the CTS started developing timing chain slack, also wanted the added interior room (which isn't much).

Noticing a trend here??? Cadillac for life!

Next up is an STS-V I think...but that is a few years out at least...

That is what I like to call pure-bred loyalty. You have a Cadillac pedigree worth being proud of. You should get an XLR-V. Granted, I tell everyone that they should invest in one of those.

Believe me when I say I have TRIED to get myself to buy something other than a Cadillac when I've been in the market but I just haven't been able to bring myself to do it! Everything else I drive feels like a total P.O.S. Even when my 2001 STS was well over 200k and in the shop on an almost bi-monthly basis the new(ish) loaners I was driving around felt like tin cans, didn't drive much better either! My girlfriend tells me I have a problem when it comes to my Cadillac's and thinks it's an unnecessary expense...To that I say "This is the only treat I give myself, now go drive your Mitsubishi!"
