HVAC system kicks on but no air moving

Hello there , I've searched online and haven't been able to find a solution. Buy my problem is that I turn on my ac and I can here the compressor kick on and the RpMs slightly move. But there is no air coming out of the vents even though I can here the doors open.
But this only happens every few times.

My suggestions sound like the blower doesn't turn on unless I restart.

I must ask. Are you complaining about no air movement? Or no cold air?

I'm complaining about no air no movement through any vents. Also I do have freon cause when it works and the air is moving its cold air and cools cabin quickly.
    Also compressor sounds normal .

Re: Account kicks on but no air moving

Ok so, lets not talk about the compressor any more as that is not the problem.

When this little to no air movement happens, do you try to turn up the fan speed manually? Also, does it happen any time? As compared to sun light or night time? I ask that, because the speed of the fan is actually controlled by the sun as well. That little dome that is in the center of the dash board has three sensors. One for the headlights, which points straight up. And two for the HVAC, both on a 45* angle. One points towards the drivers side and the other towards the passenger side. I know that the sun can have an affect on the speed of the fan, because I live in the woods. When it's hot and what not out and i go somewhere. The fan speed is slow as I travel through the wooded area to get to the highway. As soon as I reach an open area. The HVAC senses the sun and the fan speed ramps up until the cabin is cool enough.

So the next time it happens, observe your surroundings. Is it sunny, cloudy, big temperature difference between the outside and what not? Also do you have both sides on, passenger and driver? If so what is the temperature diffidence on the display? Then play around with the fan speed, does it change? Does turning off/on the system reset it?

Quite honestly, this is the first that I've heard of this HVAC system having issues with the fan. I know it's a common problem in Chryslers and I have changed at least 6 or more resistor packs over the years. Twice in my Chrysler cars and the rest in people I know. But since this is an electronic system, I don't know what it uses. Most likely a resistor pack too, but I am not positive.

Re: HVAC system kicks on but no air moving

Yes i try to turn it up manually each bar til 5 at its maximum. Yes anytime and random. Mainly noticed in daytime but i cant honestly remember? My climate is deep south Texas which is almost always sunny and 90 degrees and above.
Yes both driver and passenger are on and at 60 degrees. It does not matter if i play around with fan speed or temp, it still wont blow air. I press on/off many repeated times still no fix.

Good response. I'll look at the schematic over my weekend. In the mean time try removing any and all fuses that might have something to do with HVAC. Most likely under the rear seat in either driver side and/or passenger side fuse box(s).

Re: HVAC system kicks on but no air moving

Have you replaced your cabin air filter? When I learned about the CTS cabin air filter, I located it “outside base of the windshield, passenger side” and removed the 4, 7mm head screws. Peeled away the weather strip from outside to center. Lifted and wiggled the plastic gutter cap out, exposing the filter box cover. There are snap locks on each end of the cover you’ll need to pull outward while lifting it up and off. The filter is now exposed. Pulling out the filter, I noticed a huge amount of crud build up. It was bad. Road dirt, bugs, seeds and other unidentified impurities. I slid a new filter in and reassembled.
Air flow was back, and that funky swamp dog smell went away. Cabin air filters are great at removing unwanted air particles and keeping the cabin clean. They can also block air flow when ignored. Looking online I see basic paper, to fancy charcoal something filters.
It’s a good practice to change um if you got um, and we got um? It may not be the answer to your fix, but you never know. Good Luck

Red face Re: HVAC system kicks on but no air moving

Alrighty guys, so i remover the blower fan, inspected it and no sign of flaws. I plugged it in while it was it remover and it blew very strong air but afterwards i shook it around and black stuff was falling out from center like near bearing area so i vacuumed it and blew air through it and replaced back in and so far no problems like before i can leave a/c on and not have to turn off before shut down or nothing it works like it used to before.
So my feedback is if anyone has similar problems just blow it out with air and vaccum it cause there will definitely black stuff around the fins and behind the fan.
